Job Description:

Supports the design, implementation and monitoring of project Communications Strategy

Organizes, oversees and ensures positive media coverage of major project events

Co-ordinates the production of internal and external communications, publications and materials and assists in the sub-editing and proof reading of communications products including success stories, photographs, video and social media.

Supports media relations through a proactive engagement strategy; drafting press releases, responding to media enquiries and building dialogue with key journalists.

Supports research on the perceptions and attitudes of target audiences to enable effective implementation of program communication and outreach.

Assists in vendor selection, management, and quality control for procurement of communication materials and services;

Ensures timely dissemination and robust archival of all relevant media and data.

Liaise with partner institutions to ensure development and submission of required documentation and reporting for activities in their respective regions;

Assists in supporting implementing partners and sub-awardees to design and implement locally relevant and targeted media and advocacy strategies with a focus on promoting a national culture of reading;

Assists program team in development and rollout of project campaigns

Any other task assigned by supervisor

Required Skills:
Demonstrated Skills:
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to successfully interact with a variety of people in writing, in person and via telephone
•Proven writing, editing, design, videography, or photography skills

Language and Computer Skills:
•Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Urdu and/or other languages local to Pakistan is a highly preferred.

The USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project, implemented by the International Rescue Committee and its partners (Creative Associates International, World Learning, and Institute of Rural Management), is a seven-year project (2013-2020) with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of 1.3 million children in grades one and two. The project will achieve this goal through three distinct but interrelated components that will work in synergy to affect the quality of early grade education: Improved classroom learning environment for reading, Improved policies and systems for reading, and Improved community based support for reading in Pakistan.
